Man Killed in Gyrocopter Crash ID’d as Riverside City College Instructor

El MIRAGE- Calif. (VVNG.com) The man who died in a crash early Saturday morning has been identified as Yuri Ulloa, a Professor in the Auto Body department at Riverside City College.

The crash happened sometime before 8:50 a.m. on September 16, when the single-engine, single occupant aircraft crashed at the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed, west of Adelanto.

Ulloa was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel and the surrounding area was closed off while the Sheriff’s Department and the NTSB conducted an investigation to determine why the gyroplane – a small aircraft that resembles a helicopter – went down.

“Words cannot express what a fine human being he was. Funny, just thinking about him makes me smile. Piercingly honest, he didn’t hide behind politically correct behavior, and humble about who he was. A breath of fresh air to be around,” wrote Bob Prado, Ulloa’s friend.
