HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man was critically injured after he was ejected from a vehicle following a traffic collision Saturday night.
The solo-vehicle crash was reported at 7:29 pm, on the northbound I-15 freeway, near the Ranchero Road overpass in Hesperia.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, a white Honda Accord was reported by several callers as driving recklessly in excess of 100mph, prior to the crash.
Witnesses said, the vehicle lost control and crashed into the center divider, crossed over lanes of traffic, and eventually slammed into the cement shoulder of the overpass bridge.
First responders on scene confirmed a male occupant had been ejected from the vehicle and requested an air ambulance.
The patient, a male in his 30’s was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center with head trauma, scanner traffic reported. The helicopter landed near the scene of the accident in a dirt shoulder of the freeway.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
At this time it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
Northbound traffic is reportedly backed up for several miles as officials continue to work the scene of the accident.
