Man Commits Suicide Forcing Victim To Watch

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) A 72-year-old man was tied to a chair, assaulted for hours, and then forced to watch another man commit suicide, Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 16000 block of White Mountain Place on February 21st for reports of an attempted suicide at 6:03 p.m.

“When deputies arrived at the location they discovered a 44-year-old male had hung himself inside the residence and was unresponsive. The man was unable to be revived and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Mara Rodriguez, Media Relations Officer said in a press release.

Through investigation it was learned that before the suspect’s death he had tied the elderly man, his roommate, to a chair using duct tape and physically assaulted him for several hours.

“After the suspect hanged himself the victim was able to free himself from the chair and get to a neighbor’s house to call law enforcement. The victim suffered bruising and pain as a result of the incident but refused medical treatment,” the release stated.

The identity of the suspect/deceased is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin, officials said.
