Man Arrested For Attempted Murder of Disabled Wife

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com)- A 62-year-old Victorville man was arrested after he held his disabled wife against her will and threatened to kill her, authorities said.

On February 3, 2017, at 1:48 p.m. deputies from the Victorville Police Department, were dispatched to a residence on the 15600 block of Sueno Lane where a woman was reportedly being held against her will by the suspect, Ruben Contreras Bill.

According to a sheriff’s press release, “the suspect and his wife, who has limited mobility and uses a walker, had become engaged in an argument and the suspect took the victim to a bedroom, locking them both inside.”

Authorities say Ruben pushed the victim causing her to fall out of her walker and injure her back.

“After placing her back into the walker, he held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. Deputies made entry into the bedroom and were able to take the suspect into custody,” stated the release.

The suspect was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for false imprisonment, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse, threatening a crime, and attempted murder.

Ruben is currently being held in lieu of a $1 million dollar bail and is scheduled to appear in a Victorville courtroom on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 12:30 pm, according to public court records.
