Homeless woman arrested for misusing 911 for personal rides

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 23-year-old homeless woman was arrested on a charge of misuse of the 911 system after calling and asking for rides, officials said.

On February 25, 2018, at approximately 11:30pm, Shakera Withers requested a deputy transport her to a local hospital, as she could not stay anywhere else. She was transported as a courtesy but was not happy with the hospital, sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez told Victor Valley News.

“Withers has made several calls to 911 asking for rides to various places and giving false information to achieve this,” stated Rodriguez. Wither’s called 911 five times during her latest incident.

Withers was arrested in the 16800 block of Bear Valley Road and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for 911 harassment and habitual calls to the emergency number.

According to public arrest records, Wither’s was cite released and has no scheduled court appearance.
