Head on Traffic Collision with Extrication

HINKLEY:( Per scanner traffic, three people were trapped inside of a vehicle following a head-on traffic collision on Highway 58 Friday night. According to CHP incident logs, a Toyota 4Runner and a Honda Sedan collided just west of Yellowstone Road at 11:48 P.M.

Firefighters responded and upon arrival discovered smoke coming from one of the vehicles with three people trapped inside. They began the extrication process in order to free the occupants.

It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to complete the extrication.

First responders requested a total of two air ambulances to transport two out the three patients listed as being immediate with a destination hospital of Desert Regional in Palm Springs. The third patient was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

The exact cause of the accident is currently unknown.  More information will be updated as it becomes available.
