Fatal Adelanto Crash on Easter Sunday

ADELANTO:( A portion of Highway 395 remains shut down on this Easter Sunday holiday following a fatal traffic collision involving a blue Ford Expedition and a white minivan.

Dispatch received a call reporting a major damage traffic collision in the area of Adelanto Road and Highway 395 at around 2:09 P.M. For reasons still unknown the two-vehicles collided head on. The impact caused the minivan to leave the roadway and land in an open desert.

First responders arrived on-scene and determined two patients were not responsive. According to initial reports, two people succumbed to their injuries as a result of the collision and three others suffered major injuries.

At least one of the critically injured required extrication from one of the vehicles. All three of the critically injured patients were airlifted from Maverick’s Stadium to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and to Loma Linda University Medical Center. No information is currently available on their injuries.

The Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) is investigating the cause of the collision. Highway 395 will remain closed for an unknown amount of time from Adelanto Road to Rancho Road for the remainder of the accident investigation.
