Empty gun safe found in Apple Valley; Police search for owner

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) An empty Winchester gun safe was found in the middle of the road and deputies need help finding its rightful owner.

The safe was found in the 13600 block of Tonikan Road in Apple Valley at 7:20 a.m. on November 24, 2017.

“Upon the deputies arrival, the safe appeared to have been pried open by an unknown type tool, and it was empty,” officials said in a news release.

Deputies searched the neighborhood but were unable to locate any victims or suspect information.

“The safe type and size does not match any reported stolen property in the Town of Apple Valley and may have come from surrounding communities,” officials said.

The Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station is seeking the public’s assistance to return the safe to the rightful owner and obtain information which may help solve a crime.
