DNA evidence leads to arrest in Adelanto rape case

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) Earl Wayne Wyatt, 60, of Adelanto was arrested for rape after authorities positively identified him using DNA, officials said.

The rape was reported by the 22-year-old female victim on May 22, 2017, at 11:30 p.m., in the 11700 block of Chamberlaine Way.

According to a sheriff’s news release, the victim, and her friend went to Wyatt’s residence and that is where he sexually assaulted the victim.

The victim managed to get away, ran from the residence and to the intersection of Chamberlaine Way and Jonathan Street where she yelled for help, sheriff’s officials said in a news release. “Wyatt saw a Sheriff’s patrol unit coming down the street and he ran from the location.”

On October 17th the Sheriff’s Department Crime Lab confirmed the DNA collected during the investigation belonged to Wyatt.

Earl Wayne Wyatt was contacted and interviewed at his residence where he was arrested for rape and booked at High Desert Detention Center. Wyatt, who was currently on Post Release Community Supervision/ Probation, is being held without bail.
