County OK’s agreement for Yucca Loma corridor Green Tree blvd. extension

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (news release) – The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has approved an agreement to acquire land for the Green Tree Boulevard extension that will ultimately connect to the new Yucca Loma Bridge and ease traffic on Bear Valley Road, Board Chairman Robert A. Lovingood announced.

“This is good news for anyone frustrated with traffic on Bear Valley Road,” Lovingood said. “This is yet another step toward completing the Yucca Loma Corridor to create a new route linking Interstate 15 and Apple Valley.”

The Project will widen, realign, and construct a new connecting roadway and a new bridge over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway on Yates Road and Green Tree Boulevard, from Park Boulevard, continuing west and ending at the intersection of Green Tree Boulevard and Hesperia Road.

The City of Victorville is the lead agency for the design, construction management/engineering, and construction phases of the Project.

The County and City are responsible for the acquisition of right-of-way within their own boundaries. The total cost to buy right-of-way within the unincorporated area is $50,000 and will be funded through Measure I funds. The construction phase of the Project is anticipated to commence in mid-2019 and be completed in early 2020. The 1,600-foot bridge spanning the Mojave River from Yucca Loma Road in Apple Valley opened in May 2017.
