Car Shoved Under Semi in Phelan

PHELAN-( CHP and Medical Aid was dispatched to the scene of a traffic collision involving two cars and a semi-tractor trailer late Friday night.

At about 10:37 p.m., according to witness reports a Honda Civic and a Grand Marquis were heading westbound on Phelan Road near Avalon Road. The driver of the Honda Civic slowed to allow a semi-tractor trailer heading eastbound to continue on in preparation for a left turn.

As the civic was stopped preparing to turn, the Grand Marquis rear ended it pushing the small vehicle into the eastbound lanes just as the semi-tractor trailer passed. The front end of the Civic was pushed under the trailer throwing the engine from the vehicle and into a nearby yard.

The driver of the Honda Civic was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
