The major damage crash occurred on the northbound 15 freeway north of Highway 138 at 8:41 PM, on April 12th.
For unknown reasons, a black Cadillac slammed into the back of a Pilot tractor-trailer hauling a fuel tanker.
Per CHP incident logs, the vehicle was initially reported as having flames coming from the engine. When firefighters arrived they determined there was no fire.
The impact caused the front bumper of the vehicle to become lodged in the rear bumper of the semi. Debris was scattered across several lanes of traffic prompting the No.5 lane to be closed temporarily while the wreckage was removed from the freeway.
At this time, the extent of injuries to the driver of the vehicle are unknown. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
