Burglar Breaks Into Home and Sexually Assaults Woman in Her Sleep

VICTORVILLE, Calif.(VVNG.com)- A 32-year-old Victorville man broke into a residence and sexually assaulted a woman as she slept in bed, authorities said.

On October 25, 2016, Detectives from the Victorville Police Department concluded an ongoing investigation, which resulted in the arrest of Jason Anthony Rovira, for burglary with intent to commit rape.

On October 14, 2016, at 1:09 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a call of an intruder. The victim and her husband were asleep in their bedroom when she was awoken by a man standing over her, touching her underneath her shirt. She began to yell, which woke up her husband, and the suspect fled through the bedroom window.

On October 21, 2016, Detective Paul Solorio, from the Victorville Police Department, was notified that a positive match had been made on some of the fingerprints that had been recovered from the scene on the night of the incident. On October 25, 2016, Detective Solorio authored a search warrant for the suspect’s residence. During the service of the search warrant detectives located other property that linked the suspect to the break-in.

The suspect was interviewed and subsequently arrested. He was booked at High Desert Detention Center for burglary with intent to commit rape and is being held  in lieu of a $500,000 bail. Rovira is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on October 28, 2016.
