Brush Fire Shuts Down NB I-15 Freeway

VICTORVILLE:(  Firefighters are battling a 2nd alarm brush fire burning on the northbound 15 freeway in Victorville.

At approximately 3:45 p.m on Thursday, June 30th dispatch received a report of a fire along the Palmdale Road off ramp.

When firefighters arrived on scene they located a small fire burning in some bushes along the off ramp. Due to strong winds, the fire quickly spread and jumped over Palmdale Road onto the on ramp side.

Multiple engines are at the scene as well as hand crews working the fire. Thick black smoke could be seen for many miles around the Victor Valley.

The northbound 15 freeway is completely shut down at La Mesa/Nisqualli. Valley Center Drive is closed in both directions. Palmdale Road is closed at Valley Center Drive and the southbound 15 Freeway on-ramp.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

More information will be updated as it becomes available.
