BREAKING: Pursuit Terminates in Hesperia

UPDATE: (12:56 p.m.) The suspect is being transported to a local hospital for treatment. The deputy involved is being airlifted to a trauma hospital as a precaution. Ranchero Road, just west of Maple Avenue will be closed for an unknown duration.

HESPERIA:(VVNG.com)- Police were in pursuit of a black Dodge Challenger on Tuesday afternoon.

Per scanner traffic, the suspect is described as a white male adult who was wanted for stealing a handgun.

The suspect was traveling on the 15 Freeway and exited on Oak Hill Road. He continued onto Mariposa Road at a high rate of speed eventually heading eastbound on Ranchero Road over the railroad tracks.

A pit maneuver was used to stop the suspect. The pursuit terminated at 12:13PM, in the area of Maple and Ranchero. A utility pole and a patrol vehicle were damaged during the successful pit maneuver.

At this time, it is unknown where the pursuit originated. The deputy was reported to be uninjured but medical aid was requested at the scene. It is unknown if the suspect was injured at this time.
