Bicyclist Airlifted After Hit-and-Run; Police Searching for Driver

APPLE VALLEY:( Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle suspected of striking a bicyclist and leaving the scene without rendering aid.

On Monday, May 4, 2015 at approximately 9:40 P.M., a vehicle traveling northbound on Kiowa Road just north of Bear Valley Road near Caddo Road, struck a male bicyclist and fled from the scene.

According to a witness, the vehicle involved is possibly a white Kia Sedona. A side view mirror was located at the scene of the hit-and-run.

The victim told Victor Valley News that while he was riding, he felt as though a vehicle was approaching. He heard the vehicle accelerate but as he turned he only saw headlights.

The male victim sustained a compression fracture to his spine and was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton for treatment.

Victor Valley News Group member Caneisha Hill, commented the following,
“Thanks for all the prayers it must be working cause my man is definitely BLESSED to be able to still walk, he is resting now back at home but keep in mind the vehicle is still out there and will resurface please be on the lookout and contact deputy James with all info!”

Caneisha is appealing to anyone in the area in the area that has surveillance cameras to review them, “So we can try to identify this cruel hearted person and they can take responsibility for their actions.”

This is an ongoing investigation, anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Trevor James at the Apple Valley Police Department at (760)240-7400 or anonymous tips can be made to WE TIP 1-800-78-CRIME.
