HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A blown transformer has prompted officials to shut down a busy intersection in Hesperia Saturday morning.
At about 12:22 pm, dispatch received numerous calls reporting a power outage and intersections without working traffic signals.
Additional callers reported a blown transformer with downed power lines laying across the roadway on I Avenue near Live Oak Street in Hesperia. Arriving deputies requested a hard road closure of the area due to the live wires in the road.
For most Southern California Edison customers the outage lasted less than a minute while other’s remain without electricity.
City of Hesperia Public Works employees will set up temporary hard road closures at Live Oak and I Avenue while repairs are completed by SCE technicians. It’s unknown how long the road closures will remain in place.
Motorist traveling through the area advised to use caution as some intersections may not be working.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the outage. Please check back for updates.
