Arrest Made In Wednesday Night Victorville McDonald’s Incident

VICTORVILLE-(VVNG.com): A McDonald’s employee was assaulted on Wednesday in what was first reported as an armed robbery. At around 9:10 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station were dispatched to the McDonald’s Restaurant located at 12254 Palmdale Road.

Upon arrival, deputies were able to determine, based on witness statements, that an employee told the suspect who was waiting outside that he was going to issue a refund and would not be serving him due to an undisclosed issue that occurred.

According to the May 28th Sheriff’s Department release, the suspect later identified as 20-year-old Victorville resident Theoplis Rocky Smith exited his vehicle and assaulted the employee. Smith then pointed a gun at the victim and another employee and fled the scene while threatening to return when they were off work.

Witness descriptions helped to lead deputies to the suspect. The following evening deputies from the Victorville Station Gang Team served a search warrant at the suspect’s home on the 13600 block on Sandpiper Place in Victorville. During the search deputies located a handgun and ammunition.

Smith was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for per jail records, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and accessory to a crime. He is scheduled for an arraignment hearing at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, May 31st.
