ADELANTO, CA —After 25 years of hosting High Desert Mavericks baseball games, the City of Adelanto will look to diversify activities to lure visitors to Heritage Field stadium, soon to be known as Adelanto Stadium.
Adelanto Mayor Rich Kerr is confident an agreement the city signed with the 28th District Agricultural Association (DAA)—San Bernardino County Fair—will bring exciting events to fill the void created by the Mavericks leaving.
In March, Adelanto signed a one-year agreement—including three, one-year options—with the 28th DAA to have the Association undertake management and operations of all city promoted, sponsored or supported events, not just at the stadium.
“This agreement is a win-win for Adelanto and the High Desert,” said Kerr. “Under the agreement Adelanto will receive 30 percent of all revenues generated by events held within the City of Adelanto, and the High Desert residents will continue to have excellent venues for a variety of exciting events,” Kerr added. First event post-High Desert Mavericks is the second annual Adelanto Rodeo coming October 21-22, 2016.
The 28th DAA will have the responsibility to reach out to promoters, market events and negotiate contracts on behalf of Adelanto. “The 28th DAA staff has the expertise in the recruitment, production, management and operations of safe and successful events, and we have every confidence that their staff will work diligently to bring quality events to our City,” said Kerr.
The arrangement between Adelanto and the 28th DAA, initiated by Mayor Rich Kerr is unique because the 28th DAA has never entered into an agreement to seek and host activities outside the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville.
28th DAA Board President Patrick Kahler said this about the new venture, “This agreement is certainly unique, but it’s also an exciting opportunity for the Fairgrounds and our team to show what we are capable of, and gives us a chance to bring exciting and new entertainment opportunities to the High Desert.”

The first major event scheduled at the stadium since the High Desert Mavericks ended their run is the 2nd Annual Adelanto Rodeo October 21 & 22.
