Adelanto Man Killed in Shooting, Suspect Arrested

ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com)- Victor Valley News has learned that Wilfred Jordan III. 39, a resident of Adelanto has died as a result of a shooting that occurred Sunday night.

On January 8, 2017, at approximately 11:40 pm, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s dispatch received a call of a subject who had been shot. The caller reported the victim was being transported to a local hospital in a personal vehicle.

Deputy Lauren Abernathy met the victim at Victor Valley Community Hospital and was able to obtain information regarding the shooting. Deputies were provided information that the shooting had occurred at Desert Springs Apartments located at 11250 Lee Avenue in Adelanto.

The shooting happened as a result of an argument over money between the victim, Wilfred Jordan III, better known by family and friends as “Jay Jay” and the suspect Jose Arturo Murrillo, 43, a resident of Adelanto.

During the altercation, Murrillo shot “Jay Jay” multiple times and another resident from the apartments drove him to the hospital. Jay Jay was later airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center where he remained in critical condition. However, after surgeries, blood transfusions, his heart was too weak and stopped beating. He succumbed to his injuries on January 10th.

Detectives were called to assist with the investigation which resulted in the arrest of Jose Arturo Murrillo. Murillo was booked at High Desert Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $1,000,000.00 bail.

Those who knew Jay Jay remember him as a caring person who was loved by many in the Victor Valley.

“Jay Jay was a very kind person. He was our “gentle giant” because he was a big bear of a guy. He is survived by two brothers, one sister, and 4 children,” stated his aunt Cindy Barnes. “His funeral services are pending.”
