PHELAN, Calif. (VVNG.com) An 80-year-old Phelan man was arrested after getting into a dispute with his roommate and attempting to shoot him.
On Thursday, March 23, 2017, at approximately 12:13 am deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a report of a dispute at a residence in the 14400 block of Tumbleweed Road in the community of Phelan.
Deputy Sean Byrne responded to the residence and learned a dispute had occurred between roommates at the location.
During the dispute, the suspect, Ronald Patterson, went into the residence and retrieved a 22 caliber handgun. Patterson fired 2 rounds towards the victim, however, neither shot struck the victim. During the investigation, Patterson opened his gun safe for deputies and inside a “simulator hand grenade” explosive device was found.
Ronald Patterson was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center on charges of possession of an explosive device and assault with a firearm. Patterson is currently being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
