25-Year-Old Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

DAGGETT, Calif. (VVNG.com) Authorities arrested a 25-year-old Newberry Springs man for attempted murder Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred in the 35000 block of Santa Fe Street in the town of Daggett on April 5th. Deputies responded to the location reference a person who was shot at the location.

Upon arrival, deputies determined the suspect, John Hernandez, was involved in a physical altercation with the victim. Authorities say at some point during the altercation Hernandez shot the victim and fled on foot from the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Hernandez was seen running north of the location through an open desert. A deputy tracked Hernandez to the Desert Springs RV park and arrested him within the park.

Hernandez was taken into custody and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder.
